University of CopenhagenThe University seeks to appoint a clinical professor as chair of Internal Medicine: Geriatrics to the Department of Clinical Medicine to commence as soon as possible. The professorship is combined with a consultancy at one of the hospitals below. Please note that applicants may only apply for a consultancy at one of the hospitals.

It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. Information on the department can be found at: .Job descriptionThe clinical professor acts as chair of the speciality and takes the lead in the general development of the speciality’s academic identity. Also, the clinical professor is the guarantor of the academic quality and relevance in the content of exam assignments.When considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant’s ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level and significant teaching and supervision experience within the area of Geriatrics.The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments
  • Responsibility for promotion of the academic development of Internal Medicine: Geriatrics.

Required qualificationsSix overall criteria apply for professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for the overall assessment of candidates.   • Document a high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline

The professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.Terms of employmentThe position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 10 years.
