The UN has put the world on “red alert” – we need to act now to avoid severe future climate changes. Carbon Capture plays a crucial role as emissions must go negative, and to bridge the gap until the global green energy transition is ready. In this job, you will work with the Venture Lead to expand our Carbon Capture venture, which is currently in a commercialization and scaling phase. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team and external partners to execute on the venture strategy, prioritize and progress commercial opportunities and continue to deepen our understanding of the market and financial levers.Welcome to Oils and Fats Application ResearchYou will be anchored within the Oils and Fats Application research function so you will need to be ready for a role that lets you combine scientific excellence with technical leadership and teamwork. Oils and Fats Application Research is a global and relatively small and very fast-growing business area in Novonesis, currently we consist of two research groups in Denmark and US, respectively.We are responsible for the development, scale-up and implementation of new solutions in the field of vegetable oils and fats, including biodiesel, renewable diesel, degumming, interesterification and a range of solutions in both the food and the oleochemical space. This position will be part of the group in Denmark, where you will join a dynamic team of around 16 scientists and research associates with diverse backgrounds that also supports Novonesis ventures within the technical industries space.This job will be located at Novonesis Innovation Campus, Biologiens Vej 2 Lyngby, Denmark.In this role you’ll make an impact by:You will be part of leading the technical development and laboratory work required to succeed with the Carbon Capture venture in Novonesis. This includes discovering and conducting technical assessment of biotech concepts for capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Together with your commercial counterpart, represent Novonesis towards future customers, collaboration partners and at external events to promote biotechnology solutions in the carbon capture space.Moreover, the role will entail:

  • Ensuring that stakeholders internally and externally are kept informed of progress and challenges
  • Being proactive and ready to take responsibility while working in an environment that is dynamic
  • Mentoring team members and research associate with their personal and professional development
  • You will get to travel +20 days/year
  • Be an industry expert and technology leader within Carbon capture with a secondary passion for Oils and Fats R&D

To succeed in this role, your profile could be…
… M.Sc. or PhD in chemical or bioprocess engineering and/or biotechnology with good understanding of chemical processing and unit operations. We imagine that our new colleague is experienced, and preferably has 5+ years of work experience within research and development. Moreover, we imagine that you can see yourself in multiple of the following:

  • Experience with industrial application of enzymes/chemical catalysts, ideally with carbonic anhydrase
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Experience with presentations in public. Please include examples of this in your CV
  • Demonstrated experience with design of experiments and statistical analysis. Please highlight this in your CV
  • Ability to independently plan and coordinate laboratory work at our facilities in Lyngby, Denmark
  • It is a plus, if you have experience within vegetable oil processing and/or biodiesel/renewable diesel, but otherwise you will learn in this role
  • We mostly speak English in our team, so a professional level of English is needed in this role
