The ISS Faculty IT team are looking for current Lancaster University Bailrigg campus students to support the University’s centralized print service during term-time over this academic year.Typical duties will include checking printers for paper and toner levels, as well as filling paper and replacing toner. You will also be required to perform maintenance checks on printers, as well as to update the print inventory and online information.This role will involve some manual handling work.Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour + £1.38 holiday pay

End Date: 27th June 2025
Location: On the Lancaster University campus
Working Pattern: Up to 12 hours p/wJob DescriptionYou will be assisting the faulty IT teams in the smooth running of the University’s Centralised Print Service.Your major duties will be:

  • To monitor and maintain an agreed set of University Printers, including, but not limited to:
  • Topping up Paper and Toner across Campus.
  • Reporting any equipment found faulty.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of ISS signage and posters
  • Reporting back Stock Levels
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the Paper stores.
  • Reporting any location changes of devices.
  • To meet regularly with the nominated Service Management Officer to discuss any problems and receive guidance.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required by the nominated Service Management Officer or their representative.

Your minor duties will be:

  • To assist users in the use of printers.
  • Provide training and assistance to Printer users.
  • To undertake training offered by ISS

Person SpecificationTo be a successful applicant, you will:

  • be a current student at Lancaster University for a minimum of the following 12 months
  • have a good working knowledge of Lancaster University’s Bailriggcampus
  • demonstrate reliability and good timekeeping with a flexible approach to working hours
  • have experience of working independently, including the ability to work on your own initiative
  • have excellent communication and customer service skills, demonstrating the ability to convey messages accurately
  • be able to communicate with academic and administrative staff, and with students from a wide range of backgrounds
  • show problem solving skills including diagnosis, collecting information, referring to others where necessary and logging incidents
  • have experience of prioritising your workload to deal with a range of varied and competing tasks.
