Whether you want a career that could take you to the top or in an exciting new direction—we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.What you will do:The position of Financial Controller – Europe Transformation is a senior leadership role within Europe Finance and is accountable for all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and controls associated with the Group’s transformation activities in Europe.The role holder will be responsible for building and leading a team to support finance aspects of transformation delivery which may include investment in and streamlining of IT platforms, functional and business operating models and strategic transactions.In this role you will:

  • Build a team dedicated to finance aspects of European Transformation activity
  • Be accountable for all aspects of accounting, financial reporting and regulatory reporting associated with transformation activity
  • Provide Finance support for strategic transactions across all phases from due-diligence to implementation including decision support, carve-out and migration
  • Engage with Group Strategy and Controllership and coordinate delivery of transformation activity with BAU teams
  • Oversee accounting judgements linked to transformation activity including valuation, recognition and derecognition of assets and liabilities
  • Ensure the effective operation of SOx controls impacted by transformation activity and implement controls where required
  • Draft and present documents to Board, Audit and Risk Committees as well as executive governance forums
  • Engage with external auditors, European regulators and other third parties on transformation related topics
  • Draft external disclosures and communication to investors and rating agencies

RequirementsYou should apply if you have:

  • A strong foundation in accounting rules and the regulatory environment, including an accounting qualification and knowledge of IFRS
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in leadership positions in the accounting function of a bank or audit practice
  • Extensive knowledge of financial services businesses and operations
  • Experience developing and maintaining a robust control environment, including ability to anticipate risks, connect dots and drive end-to-end accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high-performing teams
  • Experience leading large scale transformation programmes; experience leading strategic transactions is an advantage
  • Ability to deliver on multiple priorities simultaneously, and adapt quickly to changing requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and influencing skills – particularly at executive level
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including experience drafting documents for a Board level audience and external disclosures
  • A university degree from a reputed institution in accounting, financial, or economic subject; and professional accounting qualification
  • A high level of professional and personal integrity
