The National Center of Excellence for the Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, PREDICT, is looking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated PhD fellow in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease to join our international and interdisciplinary group of dedicated researchers at Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University, at the Copenhagen South Harbor campus. The purpose of PREDICT is to study the causes and prognosis of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD), which are chronic and disabling diseases affecting millions of young people worldwide. PREDICT is a diverse, interdisciplinary center with a central campus in Copenhagen and six national partner institutions. Principal investigators include clinicians, basic scientists, data scientists, and epidemiologists. In addition to national partnerships, PREDICT has strong collaborations with leading international institutions in the field.The PhD project will focus on the paediatric part of the North Denmark IBD(NorDIBD) cohort and is expected to lead to international publications and international collaboration. Based on the unique population-based cohort and combining this with Danish register data, the PhD stipend will examine the phenotypes of paediatric IBD.As a PhD fellow you will be working closely with the Center’s interdisciplinary group of scientists to perform forefront, international research. You will be responsible for literature search, research protocol development, statistical analysis, writing of scientific papers, and presentation of your work at national and international meetings. You will work with basic and data scientists, and researchers who will support you in the development of these skills.Qualifications
We are looking for a self-motivated candidate with a keen interest in paediatric inflammatory bowel diseases. The candidate will ideally have previous experience in working with the NorDIBD cohort.The ideal candidate has:

  • a Master’s degree in Medicine(MD)
  • experience with epidemiological research and an ambition to specialize in paediatric IBD
  • experience in writing scientific texts
  • familiarity with statistical software programming(e.g., R, Stata, or SAS)
  • excellent collaborative and teamworking skills
  • excellent writing and communication skills in English

Interviews are expected to take place in weeks 38-39.PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Master’s degree. PhD stipends are normally for a period of 3 years. It is a prerequisite for allocation of the stipend that the candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology in accordance with the regulations of Ministerial Order No. 1039 of August 27, 2013 on the PhD Programme at the Universities and Certain Higher Educational Institutions. According to the Ministerial Order, the progress of the PhD student shall be assessed at regular points in time.Shortlisting will be applied.
