  • Cloud and App development

Throughout the development steps, we combine “in house” development and strategic cooperation with external partners to enhance our products, keeping them amongst the best in the industry. All Daikin departments have a close collaboration to ensure high quality products for the Daikin EMEA market. Our developments start from the early research and innovation, over design, implementation, testing, till a product that is ready for sales.To ensure the adoption of advanced technologies in our developments, we are looking for an R&D mechatronic engineer with a solution-driven mindset and passion about research and new technologies.You will join our innovation team to support our developments and research on digitalization technology for the heat pump market. In this role, you will conduct and execute research projects for our mid-, long-term product developments.Depending on the needs of the project, you will execute the projects internally or collaborate with specialized consultancy firms as well as with research organizations. As an R&D mechatronic engineer, you will be responsible for equipping our products with cutting-edge technology such as advanced control, energy management systems, predictive maintenance and wireless technologies. The goal of your effort is to provide novel technical solutions that contribute to new or current business cases. You will work in a team under the supervision of a project coordinator who will oversee the full project execution.Job content

  • You execute your projects according to the plan and ensure that the milestones and deliverables are timely achieved.
  • You identify the technical challenges and propose appropriate approaches to possible solutions.
  • You keep yourself up to date with state of the art and existing solutions available in the scientific community and in the market.
  • You deliver partial results and periodically communicate them to the different stakeholders.
  • You validate the different solutions by proving their technical feasibility and commercial viability.
  • You demonstrate the added value of the solutions in Proof-of-Concept and/or prototypes.
  • You work on virtual simulation environments as well as on real physical set-ups.
  • You propose innovative solution while mitigating the risks to potential setbacks.
  • You periodically report to the project coordinator and discuss the project progress.
  • You identify new opportunities by following technological and market trends.
  • You enjoy working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team of knowledgeable colleagues striving for creating impact with new technologies.

Profile

  • You have obtained a PhD in Engineering, or have extensive research experience, in one of the following fields: Mechatronics, Control Systems, Mechanics, Electronics, Automation or ICT.
  • You have a solid experience with model-based techniques such as numerical simulations, control systems and optimization techniques.
  • You have experience in rapid prototyping, HiL and SiL, as well as in Raspberry Pi technology.
  • You are a good programmer with notions of object oriented programming capable to efficiently produce structured code.
  • You are proficient in the programming languages: Matlab, Python, SQL, and C++.
  • You have a good understanding of thermodynamic and heat pump technology, as well as hardware electronics and signal acquisition.
  • You are passionate about AI and IoT technology willing to combine novel data-driven solutions with more traditional approaches.
  • You are familiar with communication protocols such as Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP, and IoT network protocols such as Zigbee, MQTT, and Matter.
  • You are a fast learner with capacity to adapt to different technologies to deliver outstanding results.
  • You are result-oriented, able to provide complete solutions in short time.
  • You are down to earth with a critical mindset capable to understand the market needs.
  • You are a strong team player and good communicator.
  • You thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to change.
  • You are organized, responsible and independent in your daily tasks.
