AMRC North West (NW) is part of The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, growing significantly since its conception and to continue with this growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Research Development Manager based at our award-winning facility in Samlesbury.In this role you will help grow the AMRC NW research & development portfolio by assisting with externally funded development opportunities. Working with key internal and external stakeholders to support project generation, manage bid writing opportunities, drive best practice and ensure our success rate is maintained at a high level.Other key duties include helping colleagues to identify business development opportunities, manage the application and submission process for large scale applications and to ensure all policies and procedures align with established AMRC and University of Sheffield requirements.The role requires someone with enthusiasm and a proven track record of successful bid writing. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership in the development and maintenance of academic and industry customer relationships.Ideally having significant of experience working independently in a Research Development or Research Management role who intends to pursue a career in grant writing and research management.The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good honours degree or equivalent experience.
  • A proven track record of bid writing including an ability to provide partners with confidence and value from their engagements.
  • Experience in submitting bids for large programmes/consortia led research. Including proficiencies with the University JeS system.
  • Experience cultivating and developing relationships with new and existing partners.
  • The ability to analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of longer-term implications and the performance of AMRC NW.
  • Experience of building and developing a team and aligning the day-to-day work and goals of the team with the organisation’s strategic vision.
  • Previously been involved in transformational change and embedding new business processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal; technical report writing skills and experience of delivering presentations.
