The assistant professor will be engaged in studying various aspects of these interplays, considering the seasonality of occurring phenomena. The research will focus on the variability of vegetation cover and the biomechanical properties of aquatic vegetation in flowing waters. Additionally, the position involves the investigation of the mechanisms of macroplastic waste transport in vegetated streams. This work will combine field, experimental, laboratory, computational, and theoretical research.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The successful applicant must have a strong background in hydraulic engineering or fluid mechanics and a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.The candidate should have broad experience in field research of vegetated river channels using various measurement methods, as well as in laboratory research. We are looking for a person with experience in the analysis of results from laboratory and field studies, supported by scientific publications in international journals. A significant asset is having at least one year of professional experience in international academic or research institutions. Proficiency in programming languages, such as Matlab, Python, R, or C++, is required. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is also mandatory.Advantageously the successful applicant should have:1) knowledge and experience in using of equipment used in the Department, i.e. bench-top testing machine, ADCP flow meter, ADV Vectrino Profiler, oxygen probes, drone;2) knowledge of software, e.g. Delft3D, HEC-HMS, QGIS / ArcGIS, Horizon;3) participation in international internships and study visits at academic or research institutions;4) participation in international scientific conferences.Required documents:
