Science Graduate Teaching Assistant Position Available in LevenshulmeTeaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position is set to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of £419.25 – £500.Role Overview:As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students’ learning and development in the field of science. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Providing one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them understand and engage with scientific concepts and coursework.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assisting science teachers in delivering dynamic and effective lessons, managing classroom activities, and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Practical Demonstrations: Assisting in the preparation and delivery of practical science experiments and demonstrations, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
  • Curriculum Support: Aiding in the planning and preparation of science lessons, including creating resources and materials to enhance learning.
  • Academic Mentoring: Acting as a mentor for students, offering guidance and support to help them achieve their academic goals in science.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Assisting with or leading extra-curricular activities and science-related clubs.
  • Administrative Tasks: Helping with administrative duties such as record-keeping, grading assignments, and tracking student progress.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Pastoral Care: Building strong, supportive relationships with students to promote their overall well-being and academic success.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Science or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their educational journey.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students in their study of science.
  • An empathetic and patient approach to working with students.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to addressing the needs of students.
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in an educational setting, is desirable but not essential.
