Department of Food Science, University of Copenhagen, is recognized for excellence in food research, food science education, and industry collaboration. It covers all disciplines of food science from raw materials to processing and consumption, and is organized in four sections, one of which is the section for “Food Microbiology, Gut Health and Fermentation”, where the position is placed.The postdoc’s duties will include research within gut health/microbiome as well as teaching. Specifically, the work is centered around a 3-year EU project with 3 university- and 2 industrial partners on the use of living bacteria (live therapeutics) for the treatment of hyperuricemia, the precursor of the inflammatory condition gout. The project involves planning and execution of clinical trials (to be conducted by another partner) with harvesting longitudinal clinical and omics layers of data. You will be responsible, amongst others, for establishment of instruments for patient stratifications into responders/non-responders, as well as mechanistic omics integration for mode of action of the live therapeutics.QualificationsWe are looking for a highly motivated computational scientist with the following key competences:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, biology, microbiology or similar.
  • Passion for working in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

  • Bioinformatics
  • Data integration, data fusion and bio statistics
  • Experience in handling large data sets from human intervention studies
  • Good collaboration and organization skills
