Job description

Offer DescriptionLublin 19.07.2024r.Competition for the position of POST-DOC in a research projectat the Department of Biochemistry and BiotechnologyThe Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Lublin announces a competition for the position of POST-DOC in the group of full-time research workers at the Chair and Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology to carry out research tasks of the National Science Center SONATA 19 project entitled: “A new generation of scaffolds based on curdlan and whey protein isolate obtained by electrospinning for the treatment of cartilage, bone and osteochondral defects”.Project goal:The aim of this project is to develop a new generation of biomaterials based on two natural and non-toxic polymers, i.e. curdlan and whey protein isolate (WPI) using the electrospinning technique. The assumption is that the produced biomaterials will have a new composition and structure, will demonstrate mechanical stability, will biodegrade in a controlled manner, and will support cellular response and tissue regeneration. As part of the project, newly designed biomaterials will be assessed for their structural, physicochemical, mechanical and biological properties. In the case of the latter, a number of analyzes are planned, including: in vitro cell culture experiments, ex vivo studies using tissue explants, in vivo studies on the Danio rerio (zebrafish) model, ex ovo studies using the chic embryo chorioallantoic membrane model (CAM) and in vivo studies on rats. Therefore, this project will allow for a comprehensive characterization of the developed biomaterials, which in turn will enable the determination of their biological safety and biomedical potential in the context of the treatment of cartilage, bone and osteochondral defects. The Principal Investigator of the project is Dr. Katarzyna Klimek, Professor UM.The project is carried out together with the Institute of High Pressure Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.Description of tasks:
