Then read on quickly because this vacancy is probably something for you!Job descriptionOne of the important tasks of the University Library (UB) is to train students in searching, finding and critically assessing (digital) scholarly information. Partly because of the rise of AI (including Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT), digital information skills to be able to find, critically assess and communicate with the right information are becoming increasingly important for students, lecturers and researchers. In this position, you will provide didactic advice on and, together with your teammates, develop “digital literacy and labs”, training courses and workshops around digital creation, technology and communication for students. Based on your expertise, you will help to further develop our digital labs and multimedia facilities (including makerspace, video and podcast studio and VR/XR facilities) and also draw up guidelines and policies for the responsible use of these tools and facilities. You give didactic advice on how to create a podcast or a video clip and know how best to use them in teaching or research. In addition to your teammates, you also work closely with colleagues from faculty labs and the CTL (Centre for Teaching & Learning) to ensure the best possible match between the offerings. You keep up with new developments and are able to translate these into our services and user requirements.You will be engaged in:

  • providing didactic advice on the possibilities of digital tools (a.o. AI/LLM) in a teaching and research environment and in creating podcasts and video clips, learning with VR/XR glasses and designing with 3-D printers;
  • co-developing (online) educational modules and workshops in line with (inter)national developments regarding the use of digital tools (e.g. AI, LLM) and their application in education and research;
  • co-hosting workshops from the offerings in the digital literacy and digital labs education programme;
  • picking up the needs and wishes of our users and matching them to feasible and realistic offerings in collaboration with your teammates and faculty labs;
  • maintaining and building networks with (inter)national colleagues who have similar functions and roles tav digital literacy and labs in coordination with your teammates;
  • contributing to innovation and development based on (inter)national developments.

RequirementsWe are looking for you if you want to contribute to services for our students, teachers and researchers. You establish contacts easily, are sensitive to the environment and committed to the needs of our customers. You have good teamwork skills, a practical attitude and strong communication skills. You are good at planning and organising and you are result-oriented. You are good at putting your ideas into practice and are able to enthuse and motivate a group.Furthermore, you have:

  • a completed Higher education programme, preferably in the field of education and technology or educational science/educational psychology with a technical/digital component;
  • knowledge of and experience with the use of various digital applications (e.g. VR/XR glasses, podcast, video recording studio);
  • experience in developing and delivering workshops/training in digital tools and have related skills;
  • experience in an academic working environment is an advantage;
  • a very good command of Dutch and English (level C1).

What we offerAs Educational advisor Digital Literacy & AI at Universiteits Bibliotheek, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to UFO profile Education Development Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3226,00 and €5090,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,8 – 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
